Life Insurance Awareness Month
Financial Checkup
As we navigate through the month, we contemplate how best to apply the opportunity to combine the lessons of Life Insurance Awareness Month and Self-Improvement Month as they both occur in September.
Self-improvement and life insurance collide with a financial checkup, which should be completed routinely to maintain good financial health. Financial wellness is as important as physical wellness, and both start with an evaluation. Regarding physical health, a doctor will complete a checkup to determine ailments and diagnoses, prescribing treatment to remedy any maladies, aiming to result in improved health. Similarly, a financial advisor will complete a review to determine areas that need improvement, preparing solutions to update a financial portfolio, aiming to result in improved financial well-being.
Implementing life insurance should be considered during a financial checkup. The tax-free death benefit can be used for estate taxes, income replacement, debt payment, key person replacement, or to fund a buy/sell agreement. Additionally, there are life insurance features and riders that can provide retirement income, long-term care coverage, critical illness coverage, and disability protection.
