Women’s History Month
International Women’s Day 2025
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March every year. It’s a time to celebrate the contributions that women make across all sectors of society and to raise awareness of gender inequalities.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th. The theme this year is #AccelerateAction. We believe that fostering empowerment creates an atmosphere of equality, and we strive to provide every client with the education necessary to make informed decisions about their financial planning.
We must consider each client’s situation before presenting any solutions that life insurance can provide when added to a financial portfolio. We know trust isn’t easy to gain and it is all too easy to lose. That’s why we work hard to earn it and even harder to keep it. We collaborate with our clients and their advisors to help ensure that our life insurance solutions enhance the bigger picture. We focus on planning and purpose, not just product placement. When considering our female clients, we know that there are planning challenges that are typically unique to women, though we would never assume that any planning strategy is one-size-fits-all.
While exploring options for our female clients, we consider that the pay gap creates a disadvantage for investments; fewer dollars earned means fewer dollars to invest. Additionally, we consider that married women generally live longer than their husbands, so they need to plan for extra retirement savings once their husbands are deceased. And while women are caregivers for their husbands, they are sometimes left on their own when they need care later in life, making long-term care coverage more of a priority. Unlike many investment vehicles, permanent life insurance provides tax-free growth of premium dollars inside a policy, creating an opportunity to retain dollars outside the policy that would otherwise be spent on capital gains tax when financing other investments. For retirement planning, distributions can be taken from the tax-free growth inside the permanent life insurance policy (distributions are taxed as regular income once the basis amount is exceeded), creating a living benefit. Adding a qualified long-term care rider to a permanent life insurance policy can create a living benefit that is generally income tax free if the per diem cap is not exceeded. These planning ideas might be beneficial to our female clients as they consider how best to leverage their inferior earnings against their superior longevity.
Contact us with any questions or opportunities to help you or your clients achieve identified goals. This is what we enjoy doing for only a select number of families, businesses, and charitable institutions each year, and we look forward to hearing from you.
