Life Insurance Awareness Month
Self-Improvement Planning
September is Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM). According to LIMRA’s most recent Life Insurance Fact Sheet, the need-gap for life insurance has grown in 2024. This year, a record-high number of adults in America (42%, or 102 million) report that they need life insurance or know that they are underinsured. We at Heirmark have witnessed the tragedy that underinsured families and businesses can endure, believe wholeheartedly in the advantages that life insurance can provide, and strategize with our affluent clients’ advisory teams to help find solutions to fit each financial portfolio.
In September, Life Insurance Awareness Month coincides with Self-Improvement Month, creating an opportunity to better oneself by completing financial planning that might have been put on the backburner in the past. A month dedicated to self-improvement is a good time to scrutinize financial planning and legacy building, among other aspects of life. Financial health can be a trigger to emotional and mental stress. Even though implementing life insurance leads to a feeling of financial independence, the topic is often delayed. Due to the challenges that could be associated with an inadequate amount of life insurance coverage, it’s important to incorporate financial planning into a self-improvement plan.
If committing to a self-improvement plan includes adding life insurance to a financial portfolio, it’s important to notice that not all insurance resources are created equally. Retail insurance sources aren’t always the best fit for affluent families and business owners, because retail products are generally overpriced. Statistics prove that affluent buyers typically live longer, buy large amounts of life insurance and keep their policies in force. As a member firm of M Financial Group, we have access to proprietary life insurance products that provide discounted insurance options that reflect these positive behaviors.
